Alicia Costa

Alicia is a visiting Postdoctoral researcher from the Center for Research in Molecular Medicine and Chronic Disease at Santiago de Compostela University. She has completed a degree in Biological Science, then she obtained a Master in Neuroscience at the University of Santiago de Compostela. Her PhD, leading by Jose Luis Labandeira Garcia and Rita Valenzuela, was focused on the role of mitochondrial and nuclear renin-angiotensin system in dopaminergic neurons and its implication for Parkinson’s disease. Her last works demonstrate the presence and function of the main receptors of the system in mitochondria and nuclei of dopaminergic neurons from nigral region. Outside the lab, she likes bodysurfing, cycling and reading
